update and adoption.

I cant believe its been so long since i have updated our blog. We have some deaf move away and some new ones coming. We officially moved the church into its own building and we continue to see growth spiritually among the deaf. We are still working on the papers for the visas because we need to be registered with the government first and waiting for that to happen. We have also started our homestudy for adopting a child. Please pray with us during this time as we try to adopt. We have a couple options open to us. One would to be foreign (haiti) adoption which we have prayed about before during the earthquake a few years back. Second would be to adopt through the foster care, however this brings up many questions and concerns with us being missionaries and living out of the country. The third would be a birthmother in the states threw one of the churches finding us and placing the child with us after the birth. The first and third would be ideal so please pray that God will open up the right door at this time. We have been teaching 2 deaf children sign language on a weekly basis and also weekly at the bible institute here in Mante. The church has been running from 15 to 20 these last few months. We have seen 4 professions of faith and now renting a building for the church. We will be having our first service there sunday March 6 as a dedication service. Please pray for this as we still have a lot to do to get ready for. We went to Cd. Victoria yesterday to find out the paperwork was wrong, we are correcting this and are hopfully able to return on monday and have all the paperwork correct and to send them on to mexico city to finanalize them. Pray for us during this time. Also we have found out that mexico has passed a law that will not let us go straight to dif (social service) and adopt that way and let us nationalize the child as a citizen of the US so we are back to square one on this. Our options are either go through an agency (which are all waiting for approval from Mexico because of new law) or adopt from somewhere else which means US homestudy. Please pray for wisdom on this as we seek the lords leading, and timing.

We have been here about 4 months now. The church is running around 11 with highs of 14. We have seen decisions made for salvation and for returning back to God. Please pray for these wonderful Souls. The name of the church is Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida Para Sordos. There is a website link from our website www.deafofmex.com please feel free to look at both. Also there has been some songs done in lsm on the website and more will come not only from us but from the deaf in the church. David has started teaching mexican sign language at a bible college here in Mante. There are 23 students at this moment as some will change and may get new students. Please pray that they will use this language to minister and see precious deaf souls saved.

We have been in Mexico for about 3 weeks now. We have had wonderful meetings with the deaf. We have had 7 counting us at the last two meetings. We are still looking for the house. We have one that is a good possibility but right now people are living in it and not sure exactly when they will be leaving. The this week or next is what we hear but that is meaning not now. =) Please pray for us to be able to get the house God wants us to have and quickly.

What a last two weeks. While in the southeast we have slid the car into the ditch, went to the national fellowship meeting, and sign a song at the meeting, and sign a song at the meeting. We received an email from a church in Vermont telling us they voted to take us on and we will start receiving support soon.We have 7 weeks before moving to Mexico and looking forward to getting everything ready to go. Please pray we can raise the last bit of support needed and also that we can find the right house before the move.

Wow, In 4 months we will be begin a new stage of our life. We will packing everything up and moving to Mexico. We are so looking forward to this. We passed out over 750 tracks and candy for a churchs track and treat on Halloween.At the track and treat we meet a deaf couple and invited them to church along with many Hispanic families. We have made arrangements to talk to a deaf lady who is interested in working with the deaf. Please pray for this lady. We are so excited about coming to the end of deputation even though we do have a couple months left.Pray that these churches and ones we were at will partner with us.

Already October? I am so sorry we keep forgetting to blog often. We have had some good meetings and 2 of the last 3 have taken us on for support and the 3rd is promising. Please pray for us as we try to raise that last little bit that we need. We are planning on leaving the end of March first of April unless the Lord leads otherwise. We are in IL right now and will be in and out for the next few weeks. Since the last post we have seen some people surrender to mission work and also meet some people who have a love for deaf people. Please pray that as we are presenting in these churches God will call more people to work with the deaf. In America there is over 18 million and in Mexico over 6. We have had 4 new supporting churches and 3 that have promised to take us on. We just finished interpreting at a camp for a deaf boy. God is working in our ministry even on deputation. We are so amazed at Him even using us. We have seen people surrender to full time ministry. Pray for us as we travel and that we will be able to go to deaf camp in mexico this year...... Mission conference

Just finished a wonderful Mission Conference in TX. We ate monkey on a stick.... and many other wonderful foods. IN the last two months we have had 2 churches promise to support us and a few that are going to be voting on us and we are praying that they will partner with us. We have been in many wonderful churches this year and are thankful for each one.... We are getting closer to going home. We can not wait. Hopefully we will be able to go to camp this year. It is July 20-25 in Mante. Yes that is the same mante we are heading to. We are so excited and can not wait.....

Back in Texas

We are back in the wonderful state of Texas. We have the next 2 months scheduled here in Texas (except 1 in oklahoma). We had some good meetings in the northeast. Had a couple say that they would pray about taking us on and a couple say not now but they will add us eventually. Please pray for us that we can get into more churches and those we have been in will take us on.

We have been in NJ/NYC. Sunday we had a deaf teen age girl come to church because we were there. She is not saved but we did witness to her and show her what the bible says. Please pray for her as we will be keeping in contact with her and continue witnessing to her via email. Also we went to NYC on Monday via subway and ran into a deaf man and later a child of a deaf adult (coda). Please pray for us as we are running into deaf while we are here that we will be able to lead them to the Lord. Monday we saw the statue of liberty, ground zero and a few other places. As we stood in awe of these historical places and the meaning behind them, we remember and praise God for our freedom in this country while we have it.

We have presented in 4 churches so far and 2 more on sunday. Our traveling is going good. We are in awe to have seen souls saved and lives changes. We praise God for those, and that He would use us. We had car problems while we were in Wisconsin. The check engine light came on while we were out on visitation. After driving down to Green Bay we sought a mechanic to see what was happening. After calling and visiting many mechanics we found one that told us to go to auto zone to see what there diagnostic test said since his was not working and then call him back. So we did that and the clerk told us of another mechanic and thanked her for that. We found out that the mechanic we went to would not get to it for a few days and at that time God sent the mechanic the clerk was talking about in the store. After hanging up disappointedly with the first mechanic she called the one she new over and told him what was going on. He was hispanic and did not speak much english. He agreed with the first that the problem was not the real problem and he wanted to try cleaning some filters first. We went to his shop clean the engine air intake filter and the light went off. Praise God! One foe sending this guy even if we dismissed it at first and second that it was not a major problem.

We are in Texas and will spend time with Crystals mom for Christmas. While we were in Wisconsin, I was able to lead a teenage boy to the Lord. PRAISE GOD. We are praying about our support. It seems to have leveled out for now but at the beginning of the new year, we are hoping to see many new churches partner up with us. Please pray that in January we will have a jump in our support for the new year. We will be leaving for Mexico in January 2010 unless the Lord changes this date.

This month has flown. We have been in Ks, IN, IL, and WI. We saw souls saved and was able to witness to many souls. Crystal got sick with a stomach virus. We are heading south because we have been in snow for 2 weeks now and when we think we have headed out of it crystals mom calls and says that they are expecting snow in TEXAS! It must be following us. We had a wonderful time at the IL state fellowship meeting.

We came over to delaware this week to visit with some friends we made last year. Well this week was their churches mission conference (which we presented in last year) and we get to hear some wonderful preaching and fellowshiping with other missionaries. We are really enjoying ourselves. They went all out on decorations this year. The theme is soul-vivor. Southside baptist church has really out done themselves again this year and what a blessing to see the church wanting to increase their faith promise what a rarity in this economy that churches see the vision to increase and not maintain.

We have the wonder opportunity to be in MD this month. We just finished a wonderful mission conference and saw some decisions made for Christ. They had their services interpreted for the deaf ans it was nice to talk to them about sign language and deaf ministry. We will be heading over to delaware this week to visit some wonderful friemds of our that we have not seen in a year. We have had some churches take us on for support and are thanking God for that.

We have been in Indiana for a week now. Dad has surgery and is doing good. We have will be heading to Maryland in a few days. Nothing really new happening. We did hit 100,000 miles on our car heading to Indiana. I will try to place some pictures on the blogs but my memory chip in the phone broke and i need to get a new one. We are in San Antonio and are preparing for Ike. They are saying that all we are suppose to get rain and wind. They are saying we are suppose to be safe here. We are presenting our ministry Sunday night to a church here and then leaving Monday morning to head to Springfield, Mo. Crystal has a Dr. appointment and blood work. Please pray for this that everything will be fine. They are saying there are problems with her thyroid but are not sure exactly until they do more blood work. We have been doing our dvd and making copies to give to pastors. We have been printing of labels and placing them in the case.

Missionary retreat.

We arrived at the missionary retreat. Last night message was wonderful. Enjoying our time here. Very restful after being on the road and also camp for over a month now. Our car broke down yesterday and it turned out to be the alternator. We got it fixed and now it running but seems to be rough a little. It seems to have smoothed out but we are going to drive it around for the next few days to see if it is fixed. Please pray for this.

Well since the last post of the salvations we have had 3 more. Wednesday we went back to Reynosa and was able to lead 2 deaf to the Lord and our friend with us lead a hearing lady to the Lord. We have left the border and are very sad. We hated leaving. We wanted to stay and start ministering to the deaf. We have deaf in different cities begging for us to come and work with them. Pray for us as we travel that we can get into churches and they can take us on. We have some churches that have promised support but have not sent in yet but we are estimating we are over 1/2 way there with the new changes. Please pray for us this month as we are busy with churches that the Lord will open the doors for support.

Wow camp was so wonderful. We had 6 saved and one come forward for asurrance of salvation. Wow what a blessing it was. David was able to lead one of the 6 to the Lord. Crystal worked with the kids during the sessions and one of the mothers got saved. We are on cloud nine. Please pray for us as we travel around to gain support that we can get back to the people God has called us too. The week went by so fast that as soon as we got there we were packing our stuff up to come back. =( We are really hating to leave Mexico again, each time it gets harder and harder. There is a leader meeting in April at the church in Guadalajara, please pray that we will have the opportunity to go since they are planning meeting for camp and plans for the deaf churches. We are here in Mante. Our week something like this. Tuesday driving to oklahoma. Wednesday to Texas. Thusday got somethings ready for camp and went to a church service in Reynosa. Friday finish getting things ready and went to reynosa, spent 2 hours getting our visas and then crystal help make tamales. That night we had 23 in the deaf service there. Praise God! We presented the gospel although no one got saved, the seed has been planted. We were amazed by the turn out for the first time meeting. Pray for them as they need a church as so does the deaf all over Mexico. Went visiting the deaf tonight had a good time of fellowship. Having services in the morning for them and then heading out to tampico. We will be in tampico for church tomorrow night and carry some people to camp. As we pass through mante we are hoping to have 1 come with us. Please pray for the deaf here the JW are very strong and the deaf are like a sheep with out a shephard going every which way. We need to get back here soon. Camp starts in 2 days and can not wait to tell you about it. Dios Te Bendiga

We are on our way for a two week trip to Mexico. We are so excited about this we can not wait to get back "home". We will be spending a few days in Cd Mante to encourage the deaf to come to camp and also have a church service while we are there. Please pray for us during this travel. Well this last week has been full of mixed emotions..... We had a church scheduled cancel on us. We scheduled a new church. We had one church dropped our support and then another say they were going to take us on..... We are seeing God bless through all this. Please pray for us as we try to schedule more churches. We are praying to have 30 more by the end of august. Please pray for us to be able to present our minstry to more churches and the support will be coming in soon.

We leave Missouri this week and head to Indiana and Ohio. In July we will be in Mexico for 2 weeks. Please pray for us during this time as we minister at camp. Deaf souls will be saved and that lives will be changed. We are praying about having our car loaded full of people going to camp.

We are in Missouri for the whole month visiting churches. We just celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. We are praying about our support and getting into more churches. This week has been a blessing so far here in Missouri. We have ran into many friends, pastors, and missionaries. Wow what a time of freshness. We leave here and head to Texas for some metting and then back up to Missouri. God has been. We saw so many new missionaries approved today and it just thrilled our hearts. Please continue to pray for us as we try to schedule church to present our ministry and that God will provide us with the right churches. Next week is David's 31 birthday. Our last post Worries are for God. We have seen the Lord blessing in this situation. Our finances where off and we had paid off our taxes and our car repair bill, thinking we had enough money. The money was in the account but it made it very tight for us while traveling considering gas was around $3.50 to $3.60 a gallon. Thank you for your prayers. We saw people in churches we were visiting since we were in the area and also in churches we presented in just hand us cash for gas. Which amazed us considering noone but God knew that is exactly what it was needed for. We have been traveling around and we are now in MO and head to KS this weekend and then on to TX. We are somewhere in the ballpark of 62% of our support right now. That might change some due to the mission office redoing their family allowance. Around 8 months we have increased from 35% to around 62%. Praise God!!!!!

Worries are for God and Praises

God has been teaching us yesterday and today to rely more on Him and not worry about whatever it maybe. Have you had a time of worrying about something? What did you do? We have been praying, reading our Bible and letting God take control of it. We know that we will see His hand in this. Maybe later will be able to post more about this and how God answered.

Crystal got a phone call from her mother saying that Jeremy (her husband) was in a accident while driving his 18 wheeler. However no one was hurt and the only thing was that Jeremy had to sit still for a few hours while a tow truck came and was able to pull him off the embankment. Oh did i forget to mention that it was filled with water. We thank God for this.

We were just at a mission conference and was blessed so much by the mission heart of this church. I was so amazed by the generosity and love from the church. Saturday they had a "missionary shower", and was so blessed by all the wonderful gifts they gave us. We walked away thanking God and them for the wonderful blessing they were to us. We have had a whirlwind of a month traveling from In to Ohio to NC to WV and now we are heading to MI. Crystal had her birthday last sunday. We have had some new churches take us on but however a couple of our previous churches have lower there support and had 1 that we think that has dropped our support so we have increased but barely. It was more of an equaling out type of balance. However we are thankful that it was not a drop in support but we are sadden with the balancing of our new support. We were hoping the new churches would increase us to almost 60% and closer to returning. We gave also gotten sick these last few weeks and ended up going to the Dr. and getting some medication. We had a blessing of seeing some friends from college/church that are on deputation too at a mission conference in WV. Please pray for us as we try to get into some churches for more support.

We recently have started our busy schedule again with 3 mission conferences and 1 mission month, plus Easter. We start a mission conference tonight and looking forward to seeing what the Lord will do during the conference. Last night we went to church in North Carolina and ended up getting bad directions and arriving a few minutes late to church. The church was a very nice church and the people were very friendly. Six inches of snow! Thats right 6 inches. We were heading to a church but had to turn around because it was really bad. Cars had slid off the road, wrecks, and people not being able to see the roads. It took us almost 1 hour to drive what should have taken 10 and then had to pull over. Thank you for praying for us while travel even in snow.

I know this has nothing to do with our deputation but after having dial up for a few weeks now.... I am wanting the WiFi back..... Dail up is extremely slow.... anyways with that said!!!!!!!

We are traveling around on deputation few new churches and one that has lower our support due to problems in the church. Lets see car is running good. Had a good time in IL with the church there. Scheduled 2 new churches. Crystal fell and hurt her hand but is doing good. Nothing too exciting or new besides that. Miss Mexico and can not wait to get back.

We got the car fixed it was the transmition. Things are going good. We head to Il this weekend to present our ministry at a church. We finally have internet. Been to places that we have not been able to connect with the internet to update our blog. Update Car problem is not electrical it was the transmition. It is being repaired right now. Missing Mexico a lot. We had a wonderful Christmas and New years with Davids parents. Yes we are back up north and in the rain. The roads are not bad here so can not complain. Some developements have come up on the adoption and we are having to wait until hopefully feb. to find out some information and then proceed from there. Stack passed away yesterday. The funeral will be held on Thursday. Please pray for jimmy (his son) during this time of loss. He was a organ donor and the family is donating the kidneys to my aunt, we are very thankful to Stacks family. David caught a virus and has been very sick, but he seems to be getting better.

Crystal called her mom today and a friend of hers was in a major accident on his bike and is now in ICU and the Dr's are not very optimistic about his chances of making it though this. How ever we know that with prayers God can make the impossible possible and bring healing to him.

Lets see we are now back in the US. While in Mexico David had his phone stolen. We are having car problems (electrical?). Lets see that explains our last two days. Plus leaving the deaf in Mante and Tampico again. We have had days of tears and a little stress. We know God will work through this situations. We had so much fun while we were down in Mexico see the deaf. We spent a few days in Mante with the deaf there. We are wanting to get back to them there is a lot of stuff going on with them. Wow what a week we have had here in Mexico. It has been jam packed full of things going on here. We have been meeting in the new church building every night this week. It is wonderful to see this step of faith and growth with the deaf here in Tampico. Also to see the lives we spent two years ministering to accept this responsibility.

We are here in Mexico. We are loving it. These few days have been a blessing and an encouragement to us. We really miss you friends and "family" here. David has been helping finish up the construction and also picking people up here. Crystal has been helping doing computer things for Jim like helping with a presentation and etc. Hope this finds everyone well...... we are still waiting to here back from shepherd bethel about the housing but they have received the application. Then we can finish the home study and adopt. =)

Mexico bound!

Hi everyone, We are in McAllen heading to Mexico. Yeah!!!!! We have been homesick. Tomorrow we cross over the border and spend some time with our old spanish teacher/ friends. Things are going good and are looking forward to returning "home" even if it is for a week. Nothing really new we are still waiting to hear back from the housing and then proceed with the homestudy.

We are in San Antonio Tx and doing good. We are heading monday to Mexico for the week and very excited about returning home. Car is doing good still has that problem every now and then but nothing conintually so not sure what the problem is. We purchased our Mexician car insurance yesterday and looking forward to using it. Please conintue to pray for us as we travel around and as we schedule churches. Got the filters changed today and it is still doing that but has lessen somewhat... we were told our cables might need to be cleaned. Other than that all is well. We will be leaving here in a couple days to head to Oklahoma and then to Mexico. We are so excited about going "home" for a few days. We miss it there. This week has flown here in Missouri and next week this time we will be in Oklahoma. Yesterday was relaxing we were able to spend time with our nieces. We had no churches scheduled for today so we were able to find churches and just worship with them. It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy some fine preaching today. Please pray for us as we continue the adoption process. We know it is the Lords will however waiting for God to show us the baby and also all the things involved with a homestudy plus additional factors it can be very discouraging and tiresome. We have been praying for 8 years for a son and then to find out we can not have one of our own and being missionaries is making the homestudy very hard with all the factors involved. That does not include the natural bumps involved in the adoption process. Have a wonderful week

Last night we presented our ministry in a church were our friends attend. It was wonderful to see them again after many years. Today David has been calling pastors and Crystal has been doing some paper work and errands. We have sent our application into a mission housing and waiting to here from them to get housing on their land free in exchange for 8 hours of work each week... we can use this as our home for a home study instead of David's parents house. Which would probably work out better... please pray for us to get the money to adopt we need about 6,000 more, or someone willing to give us their baby.

We have arrived to Springfield Missouri today. We have had a little car problem like miss firing or something but ???? Had a blessing Crystal had been out of her meds for high blood pressure and last night there was a Dr. in the church and was able to write the prescribtion. Praise God. Please continue to pray for us as we travel and present our ministry to churches. We are looking into adoption and if anybody knows someone who is placeing a baby for adoption please contact us.

Well after traveling today we made it to the house. The car is running good so far. We leave here on Saturday and head to Missouri. Pray for us as we are seeking Gods leadership in our lives in a personal matter. So much to put here but leave it unsaid (God knows). =)

The mission conference we were just at was so refreshing to us. We were blessed by the church in many ways. One thing we have been praying for and was trying to put money back for until our computer and car broke on us was a projector. The church gave us a wonderful projector. It is more than we could have imagined and hoped for. It reminds us that God knows our hearts desires and will provide more than we are able to imagine. THANK YOU SOUTHSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH!!!!!! Our support is increasing and we are scheduling churches for next year, hoping to be there by the end of 2008.

The mission conferrence has been such a blessing to us so far. We have really enjoyed meeting the people here in Dover at South Side Baptist Church. A man in the church gave our car a tune up for free (Praise God). Our car is now running great. Today the men are having a breakfast and the women a luncheon so I am excited about that. Well we got our car back tuesday and so far it has been running good. We are still needing some maintance stuff done. It cost a lot to fix the existing problems and some of the parts were underwarrenty still. (Praise God). Basically our cars cataltic converter went out on us. We are now safely in Delaware at a missions conferrence in Dover. We have really enjoyed our time here so far. Had some tech. problems last night to show our power point but got that ironed out in the nick of time.Enjoyed staying at our hosts house... really nice people. Hope everybody has a nice day.

Today has been a bad day. We had to carry our car to the machanic found out what the problem was that we had been having the whole time (hopefully =) ). Which is costing us some money to get fixed so please pray that the money will come in for this need. Then I found out that something we have been praying for and working on very much has hit a bump something that can be over come but will have to change the way we are going about it. Please pray for us as this has caused us to become very discouraged right now.

New England

Well we are still in New England for about another week. it is so beautiful up here with the leaves changing colors. In Tampico you get 2 seasons hot and wet, so I am really enjoying the fall season which is my favorite. We are heading to the Mid-West and then to Mexico for a visit by the end of November. Please pray for us as we travel around the US trying to raise support to return to Mexico, and the ministry that God has called us to.

Learning Technology

Here it is 12:47 in the morning and I am wide awake while David is sleeping. My brain is actively learning at this early hour. We were just recently given a program that will change your word documents into pdf files. Yeah!!! ( Thank you Pastor Cote.) Well last night and this morning, I figured out how to add theses pdf files to the website. so now our prayer letters on the web site will be in pdf format.

Traveling

Sorry it has been so long since our last blog. We are now back in the US traveling on deputation and missing home (Mexico). We have been all over the New England states raising our support. We have increased it by a few percentages and have some promises of support. (Praise God) We have seen God work in our lives and the lives of those in the churches we have been in. Also there were 4 deaf saved during camp. So much to place since it has been months but read our prayer letters to catch up if you would like. We are in Conn right now and will be here for a week and half then we head to Delaware and then back to the Midwest and then back to Mexico in the month of Novemeber. Pray that God will provide for this expense and also for a video projector.

Groups and Update

We have been so busy the last few weeks because of having groups in. The last group we had was such a blessing to us. Their church raised $1,700 from their VBS, to donate to our building fund. We had so much fun with them at the construction and then showing them Tampico, even ran into some of our church members and other deaf while we were downtown. Went to Mante Saturday for the Church out there and had lunch with some other missionary friends. 16 days more until we head back up to the border and start deputation again. We are going to miss it here so much and can not wait to get back. Please pray for us as we readjust to America and also to deputation again.

Heart's Desires

Had a good time Saturday in Mante. Small group but egar to learn the Bible. Our hearts desire is to be over there working with them full time, right now it is not possible because of finances and starting deputation. The Lord is teaching us to wait on Him and his timing in this and in another desire that God has given us. Please continue to pray with us for this group in Mante that it will grow and that God will answer our petition for them and for our unspoken. We are excited to see what God is going to be doing with this group in Mante and see how He will grow the believers to be more faithful to Him. We are unable to go this Saturday do to some complications but we aretrying to work something out. PLEASE pray that I will be able to call more and able to schedule more churches.

Mante needs your prayers

Tomorrow we go out to Mante and minister to the deaf there. Please pray for them, like i said on the old blog, the JW are trying to teach them. Most of them have had little to no discipleship and are young christians. Pray for us as we try to teach them what the Bible says and train them to see the falseness of the JW. Also pray for them because we will be gone to the States for deputation over again and will have to leave them with no one. This leads to another prayer request, that we will be able to get into churches and have the support we need to return to Mante fast. We are at 33% of the support we will need but this only covers most of our bills ( health and car insurance, taxes, and etc) but when we start deputation it will leave very little for gas and food and will be reliant on God and love offerings. Pray that we can get the other 67% fast. It would only be about 30 to 60 at a monthly promise of support. God can and will provide in His timing, but for us to know the deaf there that are not saved and seeing them dying and going to hell is a heart braker. Pray God will work in their hearts and we can get over there fast and work more effectively with them. Living 2 hours away and only being able to go on Saturdays is hard.
